UNILATERAL BIPORTAL ENDOSCOPY (UBE) is a cutting-edge procedure using advanced endoscopic visualization systems, allowing surgeons to perform operations without open incisions, using only two small punctures about 1 cm each. Through one puncture, a camera-endoscope is inserted to monitor the procedure, and through the other, surgical instruments are introduced.
A key advantage of this method is that it is positioned as a “day surgery.” The patient goes home the next day and soon returns to their normal life—but now without pain. The indications for UBE are almost identical to those for open spine surgeries: herniated intervertebral disc, stenosis, spondylolisthesis, and instability.
ADVANTAGES OF ENDOSCOPIC SPINE SURGERY:
- EFFECTIVENESS AND SAFETY
Proven high treatment effectiveness with no recurrences or side effects; - MINIMAL TRAUMA
Minimally invasive procedure avoids blood loss and muscle damage, reduces the risk of nerve injury thanks to precise manipulation under greatly magnified images on the monitor. Reduced muscle damage (dissection and retraction) compared to open decompression; - RAPID RECOVERY — “DAY SURGERY”
Short hospital stay and rehabilitation (one day) allow a quick return to active life; - IMPROVED QUALITY OF LIFE — LIFE WITHOUT PAIN;
- NO SIGNIFICANT PAIN OR SCARRING as seen in traditional surgeries;
- REDUCED INFECTION RISK due to continuous circulation of saline solution through the ports during surgery, which helps wash out potentially pathogenic microorganisms.
At our clinic, removal of herniated intervertebral discs, central and foraminal decompressions for stenosis, degenerative scoliosis, and spondylolisthesis have become routine procedures, with patients discharged the day after surgery. There’s no lengthy rehabilitation — patients return to normal life very quickly.
